These are the best. They're the least expensive too
I first learned about the Gerber bottles in a pharmacy in Canada when I was desperate, and that's where I made my purchase. Once you need baby bottles, you probably can't wait for shipping.
We had already bought in advance for our twin newborns Medela bottles (because they matched the breast pump) and Avent bottles (because we thought the price signaled quality). Neither worked at all at that age because of the flow and the nipple. It really bothered me because these were the most expensive bottles. With two crying babies, I went to the store to see if I could get an even better bottle that might work.
Then an authoritative young lady, actually a high school student, took pity on me in the aisle. She was shopping for her baby and had already gone though what I went through. She said the only one that worked was Gerber. I bought 5 of these (15 bottles) right there in the store. She turned out to be 100% correct. If you're talking about newborns, just do an informal survey with parents of babies and I'll bet Gerber is most often named as the best.
The newborns took to the Gerber bottles, and we got the tinted ones just to be able to tell which was for which baby. Now my babies are 8 months old and they'll use all the bottles successfully. At 8 months, you should be able to use any bottle at all. But when they were weeks old, only Gerber worked. And it was the cheapest by a good margin. With this experience, I don't understand how baby bottles can differ so much in price.
The number that I bought turned out to be correct for twins considering that I already had the Medela and the Avent bottles. You need so many because of the cycle, and to be efficient you should prepare several bottles at a time and place in the refrigerator using the FIFO method (first in, first out).
In addition to the bottles (a complete bottle has 4 parts), you also need a couple of other things, which I got later. You need a rack that stores the 3 parts that fit on the bottle itself (the nipple, the lid that screws onto the bottle and fits the nipple, and the cover). I got this one and it works although there are many others: DELUXE Toddler Dishwasher Basket. Before I got this rack, some of the 3 parts that fit on the bottle found their way to the bottom of the dishwasher where the water is so hot and melted. To this day I therefore have more bottles than parts that fit onto the bottles because I didn't have the dishwasher basket.
You also need a drying rack for the bottles and the 3 parts that fit onto the bottle describled above. I got one at another website that sells just stuff for babies and it looks something like this one although this is not the one I have: The First Years Modular Drying Rack. Expect to crowd the drying rack up all the time, and it should ideally be kept as close to the sink as possible.
